This new paper, written with George Melios and Kate Laffan, uses data from Gallup to show that, among other things, the country you live in plays a bigger part in reporting a miserable life than in feeling miserable day to day. The paper explains the relative importance of individual and country-level factors in predicting both evaluative and experiential low subjective wellbeing. Read the paper here.
