Five Steps Towards Avoiding Narrative Traps in Decision-Making

Published today: a new 5 step framework created by Paul and Amanda Henwood to help policymakers evaluate and mitigate inherent biases in decision-making. The experience of the last 18 months has shown that the narrative to preserve life was the only narrative around policymaking decisions. We have put ourselves at risk of devaluing important outcomes such as mental health, children’s education and economy - all of which also preserve life. Their suggested framework is the ABCDE of decision-making: Acceptance, Balancing, Checklists, Diversity and Evaluation.
